Ten thousand reasons to sing! Really? Yes, really.
There are times in life where it feels like the storms raging around us are so great that all we feel like we can see is the height of the waves ready to crash over us and smash us against the rocks. When adversity presses in on us from every angle, all we can see is the walls that hem us in. It seems hard to find one reason to sing let alone ten thousand. Yet Jesus beckons us to look past the storm, past the waves and past the walls and to fix our gaze on Him and who He is. When we understand Jesus is above the storm, above the waves and outside our walls, simply because of who He is, we understand we are actually free. It is our vision of Jesus that gives us the passage to live unshackled in the midst of adversity (as difficult as it can be) and to unearth the ten thousand reasons to sing.
1 Corinthians 4:16-18 is a good place to start. “16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Right there you will find ten thousand reasons to sing.
